The Israeli parliament today passed a new law to force Palestinians who marry Israelis to live separate lives or move out of of the country. Human rights groups and Israeli Arabs described the law as racist. The law would prevent Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip who marry Israeli Arabs from obtaining residency permits in Israel. Israel's high court upheld a law Sunday that sharply restricts the rights of Palestinians married to Israeli spouses to live inside Israel. The law was passed in 2002, at the height of the Palestinian uprising, for what the Israeli government said were security reasons. It states that only Palestinian women over the age of 25 and men over 35 are eligible to live inside Israel with Israeli spouses and eventually receive citizenship rights. China should enact a law to curb domestic violence so as to make families real cells of social stability, a member of National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) said Sunday.
