Support for gay marriage increases in Ireland

As gay rights advocates expect Irish government proposals on the legal recognition of same-sex partners, a new opinion poll has shown that the overwhelming majority of his countrymen and women are favourable. Govt planning marriage law reform
he Government is reportedly planning to introduce legislation allowing couples to marry in a venue of their choosing. At present, marriages can only take place in churches or registry offices. However, under the Government's plans, civil marriages could take place in any "seemly and dignified" public place so long as no food or alcohol was served during the ceremony.
